As part of the renovation, a new statue depicting the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi was erected.
NEW DELHI: Located in Rajghat, Delhi, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti were established in 1984 on a 45-acre site to spread the life work and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.
As part of the renovation, a new statue depicting the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi was erected. Made by professional sculptors from Rajasthan, the sculpture shows Mahatma Gandhi spinning the Charkha, riding a bicycle, and sitting on a bench.
The renovation is part of the initiative of Vijay Goel, Vice President of the Gandhi National Council.
Darshan Samiti guides visitors to the complex. President Drupadi Murmu will unveil the statue on September 4.
This year, unprecedented floods in the Yamuna River damaged the Gandhi Memorial Wall and
the Darshan Samiti Wall. The flooding even reached the Gandhi Monument in Rajghat.
The new gate of Candida Hill is covered with the flags of G20 countries.
