NEW DELHI: Ambedkar Periyar Phule Way has rejected 80 places for IIT Bombay SC, ST, OBC students and admitted 95 general category students for 2023 doctoral admission, according to data from the Right to Information (RTI) application for Educational Circles (APPSC).
Research community Energy said that the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai (IIT Mumbai) again violated its PhD admission criteria this year, but they claim to rely on it. In December of last year, APPSC said that IIT Mumbai’s five departments had not accepted a single ST candidate in the past eight years. do not accept ST students. All SC students are admitted, and there are 5 non-OBC students this year.
Noting that the Department of Urban Rural Development (CTARA) has not allowed the admission of ST students for the past 9 years, APPSC asked: “Is this an IIT where Mumbai has implemented the new anti-discrimination system?” The institute issued an anti-racist mandate on July 29, following the alleged suicide of IITB student Darshan Solanki due to caste discrimination. “Our RTI records show that a sufficient number of students in all categories passed the written exam and attended the interview.
